Lenovo is planning to outsource its entire consumer-based IdeaPad notebook manufacturing to Taiwan notebook makers, according to industry sources.

Quanta Computer, Compal Electronics and Wistron are expected to benefit from the outsourcing.

In addition to initial orders for the announced Y510, Y410 and U110 models, Lenovo is expected to release more orders in the second half of the year, with all future IdeaPads likely to be outsourced to the three makers.

In additional news, Ken Wong, general manager of Lenovo Hong Kong and Taiwan noted that the company will launch the Y410 and Y510 in Taiwan at the Spring Computer Show at the end of this month, while the 11-inch U110 will begin shipping in May.
